Patrick Leahy, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, joined by Sheldon Whitehouse and several Congressmen, has proposed a bipartisan commission to investigate torture and other abuses committed by the Bush Administration. Physicians for Human Rights had asked for such a commission years ago, when they started their campaign against torture. They think the proposal needs support and “political momentum”.
