DIY biologists can do what they like, as long as it\u2019s legal. Although this is an intrinsic part of the thrill of being in the movement, it is also a factor that keeps legitimate funders away, and some community labs are threatened with closure as a result. Governments would gain much by supporting the DIYbio movement; it would give them more access to and potentially more control over the work that goes on in labs that they fund.<\/em>

Biomed Central dovrebbe applicare le linee guida del Committee On Pubblication Ethics<\/a> (COPE), e in parte lo fa chiudendo le riviste irregolari, come quella beccata nell’inchiesta di John Bohannon su Science<\/em><\/em>. Tra le irregolarit\u00e0 frequenti, direttori che si autopubblicano senza passare dalla peer-review e si scambiano il favore. Alcuni direttori<\/a> sono emigrati dall’editore predone<\/a> OA Publishing e si sono dotati di PIE, una contraffazione di COPE, gi\u00e0 di suo poco efficace. La rivista<\/a> al centro del nuovo scandalo dovrebbe fornire presto aggiornamenti.<\/p>\n

Iniziare la lettura da Retraction Watch<\/a> e proseguirla da Neuroskeptic<\/a>. Avvertenza: se militate per l’open access la troverete deprimente.<\/p>\n

Stefano Zapperi diceva che l’editoria predona non fa troppi danni perch\u00e9 nessuno la cita. Forse, ma incarichi di direttore editoriale e pubblicazioni taroccate possono gonfiare un cv e far promuovere il disonesto di turno, mi diceva ieri un ricercatore dell’uniBo.<\/p>\n
