Piero Giacomelli<\/a> segnala un altro editore predone che spaccia – a chi vuol farsi un cv sul modello Carpinteri 2010-2012 – pubblicazioni nelle sue “prestigiose” riviste, dei contributi alle sue prestigiose conferenze, contro pagamento della quota di iscrizione.<\/p>\n

Anche in India, dove la concentrazione dei predoni sembra pi\u00f9 elevata che in Cina, ci sono ricercatori e aspiranti tali che si ribellano. L’IRAJ<\/a>, presunta non profit,\u00a0 organizzava<\/a> il 29 dicembre a Pune l’International Conference on Recent Innovations in Engineering, Science & Technology alla quale l’imprenditore<\/a>-blogger Navin Kabra<\/a> e la moglie mandavano due interventi, da studente lui e da docente lei in un Sokal Institute of Technology della citt\u00e0, che dovevano essere<\/p>\n

peer reviewed \u00a0e valutati in base a originalit\u00e0, \u00a0profondit\u00e0 tecnica o di contenuto della ricerca, correttezza, rilevanza per la conferenza, contributi e leggibilit\u00e0 <\/em><\/p>\n

Per verificare la suddetta affermazione, uno era stato generato dal solito programma SciGen e l’altro no, entrambi riguardavano come prevedere il successo dei film (commedie bollywoodiane, visto il riferimento al Sholay dialogue<\/a>) con l’inserimento di avvertenze come:<\/p>\n

Quel giorno Navin \u00e8 andato alla conferenza con un giornalista del Pune Mid-Day al quale gli organizzatori hanno detto di aver accettato solo interventi di alta qualit\u00e0, dopo selezione con lettura in doppio cieco da parte di una commissione di esperti internazionali, revisione da parte di tre esperti, e aggiornamenti fatti dagli autori in base ai commenti dei revisori.<\/p>\n

Navin lo racconta con leggerezza fino a questo punto, ma il seguito \u00e8 pi\u00f9 amaro e spiega il suo spreco di tempo e di soldi:<\/p>\n

When I went to the conference, I found about a dozen delegates who all had papers to present, and most of them were M.E. or M.Tech. students from various parts of the country. There were 2 students who had come all the way from Odisha to Pune just for this conference. One of them had brought his mother along for the conference too. Two students had come from Solapur. There students from local Pune colleges too. All of them had paid the conference registration fees, and the travel costs from their own pocket. All of them were publishing because it was a requirement for their degree.<\/em>
\nI had gone to the conference with the intention of making a ridiculous presentation along the lines of my ridiculous paper, and create a scene at the conference with the reporter and photographer from Mid-Day. However, after seeing the sincere faces of all the students there, I just couldn\u2019t make myself do it. <\/em><\/p>\n

Invece si \u00e8 presentato come giornalista e ha fatto interviste. Gli dispiace di non essersela sentita, ma sperava che la notizia si diffondesse. Per laurearsi, spiega,<\/p>\n

gli studenti di ingegneria e tecnologia devono avere due pubblicazioni. Risultato: un paese pieno di studenti disperati senza altra scelta che di pagare per pubblicare in conferenze come queste. <\/em>

Appena uscita la notizia della Sokalata sul\u00a0Pune Mid-Day,<\/em>\u00a0 il suo intervento veniva “squalificato<\/a>” e spariva anche il sito della conferenza. Ma la speranza \u00e8 stata esaudita, almeno in citt\u00e0: l’universit\u00e0 di Pune<\/a> ha precisato che gli studenti non sono affatto obbligati ad avere due pubblicazioni per laurearsi e il Pune Mid-Day<\/em>\u00a0“squalificava” a sua volta<\/a> gli organizzatori.<\/p>\n
