Meglio confessarlo d’embl\u00e9e, non solo je suis une vapoteuse, ma seguo poco le ricerche su benefici e malefici della sigaretta elettronica. Davo per scontato – poi con le confessioni, smetto – il risultato del sondaggio su 949 fumatori di cui 88 anche “vapoteurs” fatto on line da Rachel Grana, Lucy Popova e Pamela Ling<\/a> sul JAMA Internal Medicine<\/a><\/em>: la probabilit\u00e0 di smettere o di ridurre il consumo di sigarette resta uguale con e senza la sigaretta elettronica.<\/p>\n

Morale: vanno sospese le pubblicit\u00e0 che affermano il contrario fino a quando ci saranno “evidenze scientifiche”.<\/p>\n

Senz’altro, per\u00f2 i dati di Ling et al. non ne fanno parte. Il campione \u00e8 troppo sbilanciato per la statistica che usano, le variabili che possono far confusione non son filtrate, le mie solite lamentele…<\/p>\n

Peter Hajek, direttore della Tobacco Dependence Research Unit al Barts e alla London School of Medicine and Dentistry, le\u00a0riassume<\/a><\/strong> meglio di quanto saprei fare io:<\/p>\n

Hajek says that the new paper shows only that e-cigarettes appeal to smokers who are heavily dependent on tobacco. The same results would be obtained if the survey looked at smokers who try nicotine-replacement treatments, he says, and the results have no bearing at all on whether e-cigarettes are or are not an effective method of smoking cessation. The conclusions the authors of the paper draw are \u201cjust not related in any way to the study finding”.<\/em><\/p>\n
