L’Agenzia europea del farmaco<\/a>\u00a0ha raccomandato la sospensione di centinaia di farmaci generici, molti prodotti da Ranbaxy, per i quali gli esperimenti clinici sono stati condotti dalla GVK Biosciences<\/a> di Hyderabad, India, senza rispettare il “codice delle buone pratiche”, dopo la denuncia<\/a> dell’Agenzia francese secondo la quale GVK avrebbe falsificato i dati:<\/p>\n

Upon the request of the European Commission, EMA\u2019s\u00a0Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use\u00a0(CHMP) looked at over 1,000 pharmaceutical forms and strengths of medicines studied at the GVK site. For over 300 of them, sufficient supporting data from other sources were available; these will therefore remain on the market in the EU as EMA is satisfied with the available data.<\/em>
\nFor medicines that lack data from other studies, the CHMP recommended suspension unless they are of critical importance for patients because alternatives will not be able to meet patients\u2019 needs. There is no evidence of harm or lack of effectiveness linked to the conduct of studies by GVK Biosciences.<\/em><\/p>\n

The public has a right to question how science may impact their lives and whether scientists can be trusted. Accepting fair criticism, then, is an essential professional duty.<\/em>

Non so chi sia l’autore, ma trovo che Research Reviews <\/a>dovrebbe interessare i miei colleghi. L’idea del blog \u00e8 di far capire agli estranei come si fa scienza in pratica.<\/p>\n

Ieri citavo lo studio<\/a> del Pew Center e dell’AAAS sulla differenza di opinioni sulla scienza e i suoi benefici, tra scienziati e cittadini.
