L’<\/span>Economis<\/em>t riprende la lettera 2016 di Bill e Melinda Gates, in un <\/span>bell’articolo <\/a><\/strong>su alcuni esperimenti fatti da governi, aziende e Ong per rendere l’elettricit\u00e0 accessibile, anche economicamente, ai poveri. Per la fornitura sia on-grid che off-grid, il metodo per ora pi\u00f9 efficace sembra essere il prepagamento – o il pagamento a rate per lampade ed elettrodomestici efficienti – via cellulare. <\/span><\/p>\n

Articolo e metodo sono da collegare agli altri progetti coordinati dall’International Growth Centre<\/strong><\/a> e dai suoi economisti sperimentali tra i quali la mitica Esther Duflo (mi ripeto, lo so…).<\/p>\n

Bufale tipo lattina Keshe <\/a>a parte, nelle riviste specializzate (nei sommari, mica riesco a leggerle!) c’\u00e8 molta ricerca pubblica e privata sull’energia recuperabile<\/a> <\/strong>dall’ambiente per alimentare sensori e chip incorporati nei vari congegni collegati in rete. Si tratta di milliwatt – non dei watt necessari a una lampada a LED anche se di ultima generazione – per\u00f2 crescenti anche grazie ai finanziamenti Starnet-SRC<\/a><\/strong>, della National Strategic Computing Initiative<\/a><\/strong>, della Commissione Europea<\/a><\/strong>, delle “fonderie” di chip…<\/p>\n

Poi ci sono gli sprechi, o “risparmi” visto che in questo caso per evitarli bastava sostituire in tempo qualche valvola. Cito dal paper<\/a> <\/strong>di Conley et al. su Science<\/em>:<\/p>\n

The 23 October 2015 blowout of a well connected to the Aliso Canyon underground storage facility in California resulted in a massive release of natural gas. Analysis of methane (CH4) and ethane (C2H6) data from dozens of plume transects from 13 research aircraft flights between 7 Nov 2015 and 13 Feb 2016 shows atmospheric leak rates of up to 60 metric tonnes of CH4\u00a0and 4.5 metric tonnes of C2H6\u00a0per hour<\/strong>. At its peak this blowout effectively doubled the CH4 emission rate of the entire Los Angeles Basin, and in total released 97,100 metric tonnes of methane<\/strong> to the atmosphere.<\/em>

\n\u00a0We note that the agreement reached at the 21st\u00a0Conference of the Parties (COP21) to the Framework Convention on Climate Change includes specific requirements for the Parties to account for anthropogenic GHG emissions with accuracy and completeness. In the post-COP21 world, rapid evaluation of episodic releases of GHGs like the Aliso Canyon blowout will be an essential contribution to meeting these requirements.<\/em><\/p>\n
