He doesn\u2019t want to contribute to cynicism that lets people think if scientists admit uncertainty, that means they can\u2019t be trusted. \u201cI have a deep faith that there is real science. It\u2019s not that we know nothing about the world.\u201d Science is still the best way of knowing stuff. Darpa just wants to know what stuff science is really sure about, and how it knows it. Proposto nel 1998<\/a><\/strong>, attivo dal 2009, l’esperimento CLOUD<\/strong><\/a>, al CERN, doveva confermare la tesi di Henrik Svensmark<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0secondo la quale non sono le emissioni di gas serra bens\u00ec l’effetto combinato del vento solare e dei raggi cosmici – provenienti ciclicamente dalla galassia – sulla formazione delle nubi a determinare i cambiamenti climatici attuali. I fisici delle particelle reclutati da Jasper Kirkby <\/a>tendevano talmente alla mucca sferica che i paesi finanziatori hanno minacciato di tagliare i fondi se la squadra iniziale non si faceva aiutare da biochimici, fisici e chimici dell’atmosfera.<\/p>\n

Da quel momento<\/a><\/strong>, le cose sono andate di bene in meglio, salvo per la tesi del povero Svensmark <\/a><\/strong>finito consulente della lobby di Big Oil & Coal nota come Gentlemen Who Prefer Fantasies.<\/p>\n

the CLOUD experiment subsequently unlocked many of the mysteries of nucleation and growth in our atmosphere, and it has improved our understanding of human influences on climate<\/strong>. Their most recent publication [Gordon et al.<\/em>, 2017] provides their first estimate of the GCR [galactic cosmic rays]-CCN[cloud condensation nuclei] connection, and they show that CCN respond too weakly to changes in GCRs to yield a significant influence on clouds and climate.<\/strong><\/p>\n
