La comunità della fisica delle alte energie ha rilasciato una dichiarazione sull’intervento al CERN del prof. Alessandro Strumia, basata sulle slide pubblicamente disponibili e resoconti di testimoni.

Abstract
Ha dato i numeri a caso su un argomento di cui non sa nulla, usando come discriminante la quantità di citazioni, come se avesse senso. Tanto per far un esempio

almost 1/3 of Strumia’s citations come from being one of thousands of authors on the CMS Higgs discovery paper, to which we can safely conclude that his contribution (as a theoretical associate in an experimental collaboration) was modest. Hundreds more citations come from papers about the statistically insignificant 750 GeV fluctuation at CERN, which disappeared with more data.

  1. Forse sarebbe più semplice una dichiarazione parallela, sul sito di CERN, di confidenza nelle idee di Strumia; ipotizzo che Strumia e non più di qualche fisico teorico (purtroppo esistono anche quelli) potrebbero firmarlo.
    Almeno per verificare quale sia la diffusione (ed il peso) di idee misogine, e sessiste, in circolazione: è un peccato che la ricerca italiana sia conosciuta al mondo per un evento nefasto, che ci porteremo dietro per i prossimi decenni: un altro modo per farci ridere dietro nel mondo.
    Mi chiedo come abbia fatto un seminario come quello ad essere presentato al CERN, con le migliaia di ricercatori che ci lavorano, anche una semplice verifica affidata ai tirocinanti lo avrebbe bloccato prima della diffusione.

      Il CERN ha in corso un’indagine sulla presentazione, quando sarà conclusa ne pubblicherà i risultati, idem INFN, Università di Pisa e European Science Council.

      Strumia ha chiesto di essere invitato per presentare nuovi dati bibliometrici su donne e uomini nella fisica delle alte energie. Non per diffamare delle colleghe violando il codice di condotta del CERN…
