Sul Guardian, Graham Redfearn riassume il complottismo climatico di Malcolm Roberts, un neo-eletto senatore australiano del partito xenofobo. Redfearn cita solo l’incipit della risposta mandata a Roberts da un giornalista che aveva preso di mira:

Su un noto blog di horseshit e in calce a un’accusa di truccare i dati, Pat “il riscaldamento globale fa solo bene” Michaels del Cato BigOil Institute ha scritto a Thomas Karl – il direttore, appena andato in pensione, della ricerca sul clima alla NOAA e quindi nel mirino del repubblicano Lamar Smith:

Per parlare di cose serie, ieri – nel giorno in cui è nato P.A.M. Dirac – l’ICTP “Abdus Salam” di Trieste ha assegnato il premio omonimo a Nathan Seiberg dell’Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, Mikhail Shifman e Arkady Vainshtein dell’università del Minnesota

per il loro determinante apporto a una migliore comprensione delle teorie di campo in regime non-perturbativo e in particolare per il raggiungimento di risultati esatti nelle teorie di campo supersimmetriche.

Grazie del com. stampa, ma non ho niente da dire, se non che gli specialisti trovano i lavori del trio su arXiv. Il che mi ha fatto pensare a Tim Gowers, tutt’altro genere di matematico, lo so – e alla sua conversazione con Nikolai Ivanov di “Stop Timothy Gowers! !!!”.
